Steel-tip and soft-tip darts use the same bullseye height, but different throwing distances.

Steel-tip dartboard setup

Especially popular across Europe.

Set the centre of the bullseye 173 cm / 5 ft 8 in above the floor. Place the oche, or throwing line, 237 cm / 7 ft 9¼ in from the front of the dartboard, measured along the floor.

Soft-tip dartboard setup

Especially popular in Asia and the US.

Set the centre of the bullseye 173 cm / 5 ft 8 in above the floor. The usual throwing distance is 244 cm / 8 ft from the front of the dartboard, measured along the floor.

This is one common soft-tip setup. Check your electronic board's instructions or league rules before marking the line.
